Visit to The Caves of Montserrat

Duration: approximately 1 hour. Includes viewing of the new Video Mapping. Walk enriched by expert guides who, in addition to explaining the characteristics and the result of the geological process that has shaped the cavity, will show us the habitat of the first inhabitants of Montserrat and take us into a world of stories and legends.

COVID-19

To minimize the risk of Covid-19 infections, the capacity of the groups has been reduced, the time between visits has been increased and tickets will only be sold online in advance. THE USE OF A MASK WILL BE MANDATORY

Just crossing the entrance threshold to start a route of some 400 meters following the most spacious conduits and more beautifully ornamented by the successive generations of speleothems (stalactites, stalagmites and columns). A walk enriched by expert guides who, in addition to explaining the characteristics and the result of the geological process that shaped the cavity, will show us the habitat of the first settlers of Montserrat and will enter into a world of stories and legends.

  • THURSDAY AND FRIDAY: 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m.
  • SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS: 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

YOU MUST REACH THE PARKING AT LEAST 15 MINUTES BEFORE THE START OF THE VISIT, OTHERWISE IT WILL NOT GIVE YOU TIME TO CLIMB THE 244 STAIRS TO THE CAVE.

Guided tours are in Catalan but visits 1 pm and 5/6 pm are subject to change to Spanish.

Other information

  • The use of flashes in the interior as well as filming the audiovisual is prohibited.
  • The admission of pet animals with the exception of piglet dogs is not permitted.
  • Children should always be accompanied by an adult.
  • You are in the surroundings of the Natural Park and comply with the regulations.

Important!

The access to the caves is realized by means of the ascent of 244 steps, about ten minutes from the last parking. EIGHT! There is one in the picnic area, but you can drive to the second one!
Inside we will take a route about 400 meters.
The slope from the entrance to the lowest point of the route is 20m, although the accumulated difference between the one and the return is 64 m, 32 negative and 32 positive that pass through the 250 steps that there are inside the cave.
Throughout the year the interior temperature of the cave is 14 degrees and the relative humidity of 97%.
It is recommended to wear sports shoes and a piece of long-sleeved clothes even in summer.
